Surface Says
Bec Brittain pushes the boundaries of lighting design through her sculptural, experimental approach. Her complex geometric forms bring to mind architectonic jewelry at times, and otherworldly constellations at others.
SHY
The SHY series of lights uses the spare beauty of thin LED tubes to define the edges of its shape; in this way the function of the piece is created by its form and vice-versa. The modular nature of the hardware is particularly well suited to customization.
The Zelda series juxtaposes the powerful materiality of brass-encased LED tubing with gracefully suspended planar forms. Zelda's flexible form can be fashioned as a simple single diamond, arranged concentrically in geometric orbits, or fit together like the links of a chain.
The Echo series uses fins of mirror radiating from a central axis to reflect beams of light. LED tubes are turned inward to bounce off the glass; the light becomes both softened and multiplied. Also available with fins of white glass which diffuse the light and softly glow.
Vise captures a hand-blown glass globe within brass claws machined to follow the gentle curvature of the glass. The illumination is set high inside the globe, creating a soft glow that gradually fades towards the opening, mimicking a sunset at the beach.
Helix is comprised of custom brass hardware and LED tubes wrapping around a central support. Available with a stone counterweight and in any of our standard brass finishes.
