No matter who you are, you’re welcome here.
In collaboration with David Rockwell and 2×4, Surface will welcome all to the second edition of The Diner, the award-winning experiential installation and event space that debuted during last year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan. In the spirit of Florent, the now-shuttered, formerly beloved French diner in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District—Surface will celebrate New York City’s most democratic hangout. The diner is where a New York day begins and ends, and where its most inimitable characters convene: the architect and the club kid, the taxi driver and the fashion designer, the banker and the drag queen, transplants from New Delhi and New Jersey.
Located at the footsteps of the High Line’s entrance in the historic Meatpacking District, The Diner NYC will be the ultimate destination for NYCxDesign fair-goers and New Yorkers alike.
A Surface Media owned and operated experience, created and produced in collaboration with architect David Rockwell and design studio 2×4, The Diner is a communal space that celebrates the diversity of creative culture and collaboration, where the design community can socialize, collaborate, and network. Since its launch in Milan at the Salone del Mobile design and furniture fair in 2018, The Diner has won the Milan Design Award for Best Engagement, received the Frame magazine jury award for Best Trade Fair Stand of the Year, was named one of the “Most Instagrammable Installations” by Dezeen, and has received countless other nominations.
