British designer Tom Dixon’s first hospitality space in the U.S. didn’t open in New York or L.A., but on a shopaholic’s stretch of Atlanta’s Buckhead district. (Neighbors include Hermès and Louboutin.) Dixon designed every centimeter of Himitsu—a reservations-only speakeasy-style joint named after the Japanese word for “secret”—to be a distortion of mundane daily life: His Melt pendants appear to jiggle and pop like molten lava above the double-height, 60-seat space; tabletops are smoked mirrors; and the copper bar throws back smoldering reflections.
