The aesthetic of Sue S. Jung’s photos could be called minimalist, though that’s perhaps just a byproduct of how she shoots. “I tend to be a little secretive,” says the South Korean Parsons School of Design grad. “Once you reveal a face, people engage with that, instead of the colors or circumstances.” Despite her desire for privacy, Jung speaks candidly about her love for travel, which fuels her photography habit. “For me, travel is about escaping reality. I love pretending to be an expat somewhere, living in a different society, imagining another life.” When she isn’t escaping, Jung spends her time designing DKNY men’s outerwear collections and chilling at home in New York with Alex, her husband, and Leo, her cat.
