Virgil Goes Couture?

Off-White designer Virgil Abloh is reportedly in talks to succeed Riccardo Tisci as Givenchy’s creative director. “I have a litany of ideas that bring modern relevance, but also a financial vision on how these brands can be more successful in the space of luxury…. Off-White is sort of my résumé and it’s my laboratory to experiment with these ideas to see which ones are valid,” said Abloh in a WWD interview last year.

Shrinking Profits

Zaha Hadid Architects has seen profits fall by 14 percent, according to the company’s latest figures. However, those numbers do not include several large projects that the practice was recently awarded.

Hollywood Bound

London’s Hospital Club, a private club for creative professionals, is set to open an outpost in Los Angeles. The new complex, designed by HKS architects, will have spaces for film screenings, music performances, art exhibitions, and more.

A new plan by Catalan-based Architects RCR has been unveiled for Parisian island L’Île Seguin. This comes after Yves Bouvier’s ongoing scandal, dubbed The Bouvier Affair, forced him to halt progress on a Jean Nouvel-designed scheme he had backed.

Whiteread Wins

Artist Rachel Whiteread has won this year’s Ada Huxtable Prize, which recognizes women in architecture. In 1993, Whiteread was also the first woman to win the prestigious Turner Prize, an award for a British artist under the age of 50.
