Designer of the Day: Claudia Li

Here, we ask a designer to take a selfie and give us an inside look at their lives.

Age: 29

Occupation: Creative director

Hometown: Too many!

Studio location: Manhattan

Describe what you make: Fashion.

The most important thing you’ve designed to date: Our trench coat, because its something we show every season. Were constantly trying to perfect it, and make it a classic piece of Claudia Li.

The problem your work solves: Most of the Claudia Li collections are designed as full looks. As I get older, I find myself drawn to wearing full looks as outfits. Of course, you can also wear the garments separately styled with other pieces, too.

What you are working on now: Our fall/winter 2018 collection.

What you absolutely have to have in your studio: Books, music, laughter, coffee, and internet!

What you do when you’re not working: Run, cook, and travel.

Sources of creative envy (dead or alive): It depends on the collection.

The distraction you want to eliminate: Pigeons outside the studio windows.

Concrete or marble? Both.

High-rise or townhouse? Neither.

Aliens or ghosts? Aliens.

Remember or forget? Remember.

Dark or light? Both.
